Chicago gets: Jay Cutler
Denver gets: Kyle Orton, 2009 1st and 3rd round draft picks (number 18 and 84), and a 2010 1st round pick.
Honestly, I think the Broncos got a fantastic deal out of this. Yes, Jay Cutler is a good QB, with potential to be great. But after seeing the way he reacted, I don't know. A real professional would man up and say "I'll prove to these guys that they shouldn't have even listened to trade offers for me, especially for Matt Cassel", but not Cutler.
Seriously, with the offense the Broncos have in place, I think Kyle Orton will be more than solid for a few years while they groom someone to take over for him. I DON'T think they have to take a QB in the first round this year, or next year to be honest. I think they can get away with a 2nd or 3rd round guy this year or next year and let him learn the system and develop while Orton plays. He was solid in Chicago before he got hurt this year, and that was without really anyone to throw to. In Denver, he's got Brandon Marshall, Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley, and newly signed Jabar Gaffney, all SIGNIFICANTLY better than he had in Chicago. With the rushing platoon Denver has recently signed (ie Correll Buckhalter, LaMont Jordan, J.J. Arrington to go along with Selvin Young and Ryan Torain), I'd watch for the 5 day one picks the Broncos have to be spent primarily on defense.
Give it a year or two, this Broncos team will be looking back on this trade and smiling. They're going to end up getting 4 guys who, if the draft well, will start for them for many years to come (ok, maybe Orton will only be a few years, but still).
Good Trade Denver!
